The American tanker Haeldton was sunk by a German submarine off Terschelling, Holland, with about twenty lives lost. Thirteen Americans rode the crew. the unarmed vessel, owned by Standard Oil, valued at about 2 million dollars, carried half a million in government war risk insurance.
