Great interest surrounds the Elko Development Company project to build a half mile oval track for auto motorcycle and horse races at Elko. The plan includes a three thousand capacity grandstand, rodeo grounds, a baseball diamond, stables, booths, a dance pavilion, and extensive parking. 100 acres are laid out with 80 lots offered at 300 dollars each. stock is non-assessable and designed to cover construction costs under 15000 dollars, with expected three year returns.

Decree settles Humboldt river water rights dispute in Nevada

Judge Ducker finalizes a three year case Union Canal Ditch company v Pacific Reclamation company and receivers over Bishop Burnt and Trout creeks. The decree declares plaintiffs' rights to water for irrigation stock domestic use and crops, bars storage by the defendant except as specified, and makes the injunction permanent with costs totaling 13,500.

Bullion Mines Awarded Prize for Nevada Exhibit

Word from San Francisco says that a silver medal was awarded the Nevada Bunker Hills Mining Company of Bullion thirty miles south of Elko for its ore exhibit. The exhibit is said to be attracting marked attention and helped Nevada win first prize for mineral exhibits. The medal honors the company and will attract mining world interest to the state. Mr and Mrs John Cohn of Carlin are in Elko on a business trip. Walter Brown, an old Elko resident now of Tonopah, is visiting Elko.

England plans to use three thousand aircrafts for air supremacy

Special to The Independent reports England intends to deploy three thousand planes to control the skies and strike German targets, promising battles in the air and against Zeppelins. Two hundred British were reported killed in an aerial attack at Karevule, Ome. C.H. Asbury, superintendent of Indian affairs in Nevada, spent yesterday here settling water disputes.

Enginemen Die in Mina Road Wreck Near Reno

John Fitzgerald 26 and Oliver 38, both from Canada, were killed when a second engine on a southbound freight train derailed on Southern Pacific narrow gauge near Mina.
