Elko to Receive New Triple Combination Fire Engine

J Fonnesbeck, agent for White Fire Engine, arrived from San Francisco to furnish Elko with a chemical engine. The triple combination engine pumps 900 gallons per minute and will be shipped after testing by the board of underwriters between June 15 and 20. A 600 gallon capacity unit was rejected by the board despite claiming 750 gallons and 150 gallons over specifications.

Five Die As Bridge Collapses Into Cold Water River

Five dead, fifteen missing and twenty injured after a bridge over Cold Water Creek near Packsard on Chicago Rock Island & Pacific No 19 collapsed under a northbound train at 2 50 am. Two bodies pulled from wreckage by nine am identified as Emma von Vilet of Traer and another unidentified woman. High water undermined supports causing the bridge to give way. Engine and cars plunged into the creek and some missing feared drowned.

James named permanent Democratic convention chairman
