The unique department of ladies clothing has moved from Seymour Jacobs store to Mrs Cantbell's millinery shop with continued goodwill.
Chicago dispatch reports more than 250000 workers threaten to strike unless deported industrial workers from the IWW are returned home in the Warren district of Arizona. A telegram from Haywood to President Wilson announced the walkout plan.
Four young Friends church members join a training camp at Haverford College to depart for France as the first unit in a Friends of America restoration effort. A $200,000 budget supports one year of work including rebuilding villages aiding agriculture and medical relief.
Denver July 31. Girl bathers at Washington and Berkeley Lake Parks devise a painless tattoo system using court plaster initials of suitors who joined the war effort. The sun tattooed the initials on their bodies, creating striking marks.
The Senate Finance Committee approved raising the war tax bill from 1.67 billion to 2.8 billion dollars. Increases target corporations, normal income taxes, individuals earning 15000 dollars or more, plus added duties on distilled spirits and beer.
