The Norwegian steamer Sygna of 4000 tons register, carrying war munitions from South Brooklyn to Valdivestock, returned with a fire in hold No. 1. Fire boats aided the crew and it is believed the fire is under control. the vessel should proceed tonight.
Paris and Rome dispatches report King Nicholas withdrawing with his forces from Scutari into Albania. Montenegrins had defeated two Austrian corps at Beraca, but Austrian reinforcements raise the risk of a Montenegrin retreat into Albania.
A large blaze has destroyed much of the southwest section of Christiana leaving nearly two thousand families homeless. Authorities and aid groups coordinate shelter and relief as fire crews battle the remaining hotspots. Police report no confirmed fatalities at this time.
