Berlin December 18 General Von Mackensen's army has reached Moldavia the last Romanian province held by the Entente Nearly all of Dorbulja and the Wallachia Valley are in German control marking a major advance in the campaign.
Two masked bandits held up The Stockton's National Bank in Brush Colorado today forcing clerks to the floor. They escaped with seven thousand dollars, aided by waiting autos. Posses scour the surrounding area but no trace is found.
London December 18. The Foglish government will present its reply to German peace proposals to Parliament tomorrow via a distant address by Premier Lloyd George. Bonar Law announced in the House of Commons that an extended history of the war may be recounted and the Foreign Office will transmit the note for consideration.

Washington December 18 Congress moved toward prohibition with a Judiciary Committee plan for a special Thursday meeting to decide if it should recommend and seek a senate vote on a constitutional amendment to make the entire nation dry.
Major General Leonard Wood told the Senate Military Affairs Committee that the National Guard is a failure and urged a four million man army. He condemned border mobilization inefficiencies and proposed universal training with six months service for all youths at nineteen.
California records the highest farm family labor value at 293 dollars per household. Georgia is second at 138 dollars with other states showing lower rates. The national average stands at 228 dollars with labor largely performed by housewives in most states and few relying on hired help.

Washington December 18 The Senate defeated Senator Smoots substitute to prohibit import of alcohol for beverage use in the District of Columbia. Pro prohibitionists feared the substitute would kill the main bill and opposed it. The measure went down sixty one to eight.
Ruby Valley ranchers R. M. Woolverton and J. P. Woolgt ton arrived by motor for a few days in Elko. They will conduct business while receiving Christmas remembrances from local residents. They are staying at the Mayer.
