A U S submarine Let t lost anchor and periscope parts in a December storm near Norfolk. The vessel anchored to ride out the gale but the anchor failed to hold as four other submarines arrived unharmed. Civil war erupts among Carranzistas as General Murgia attempts to arrest General Trevino.
London reports three vessels sunk in the previous day including the Danteh Steamer Sigurd and two Urkish ships Arrixton and Tanfield. Official dispatch notes the incidents occurred within twenty four hours and highlights maritime losses.
A W Brown died last night at 10 45 at his Silver Street home after illness. An early Nevada settler and longtime Elko County resident he is survived by his wife and two daughters Mrs James Hay and Mrs Geo Knopf both of Elko. The funeral is set for tomorrow at 2 PM from the Presbyterian church with friends invited.

The O Neil Brothers bought 1000 tons of hay at Lovelock for winter feeding of their poorer sheep. On Wednesday they shipped sixteen carloads totaling over 4400 head to Lovelock, paying eight dollars per ton with five cents discount for damaged hay. Transport costs are 360.40 per car.
