The state tax commission adopts 1915 land classifications for cultivated meadow pasture irrigable arable grazing and mountain lands. Assessors must first enter classifications on 1915 rolls and await price instructions. special entries reflect higher valued land based on location with precise formatting.
Following state tax commission action to establish assessment variations for the year, Ormsby County commissioners held a special meeting and set the city county and state tax rate at 3.90 per 100 dollars. Appeal noted.
The appellate division of the supreme court affirmed the writ in the Harry K Thaw case and refused to send him back to New Hampshire. Justice Hotchkiss and Scott wrote the opinion noting the state need not degrade itself with a troublesome guest.
A bold burglary in Elko last night saw a thief enter a rear door and hide in the basement before stealing about two dozen six shooters from a Smith Go store. Two suspicious men were spotted near the rear at about nine, aiding investigators today. Night Officer Peck found the open door. the theft was not noticed until morning.
Judge Taber returned from Prospect where he concluded court matters begun while the county was under his jurisdiction. This afternoon the Interm. Griswold estate was admitted to probate and letters testamentary issued. The Dougherty estate compromise allocates $2500 to contestant Mrs. A R Martin. The Peterson divorce case was heard.
Assessor Wm Weathers returned from San Francisco and stopped in Carson City to meet with the state tax commission. He said the workload will be impossible to complete without additional staff. The board plans to certify values by early May and have the tax roll ready by July, with at least three extra clerks needed.
Copper reached 17 cents yesterday the highest in years and prompts reopening across Nevada mines. Ely mines expand employment while Thompson smelter plans to resume soon as European demand fuels the rally with prices potentially climbing to 18 cents.

The Dupont Pharmacy plans a formal opening next Monday at Fourth Street between Commercial and Idaho. A large announcement appears on the fourth page. The event includes a morning address by Rev. J. D. Springston of Portland and a Sunday service at church, with a reading room available daily for Bible and Christian Science literature.
Presbyterian Church announces services at 11 a.m. and 7 30 p m with Sunday school at 10 o'clock. Minister J M Swander invites all to attend. St Pauls Church offers Holy Communion at 8 a m and morning and evening services at 11 and 7 30 with Sunday school at 12 30 p m Rector Ernest H Price presiding.

Water use approved with return flow. Interstate water suits involve Salmon River Carey act project and Idaho Nevada Utah actions.
San Francisco April 17 The Pacific Mail Steamship company announced that all sailings after November 2, 1915, have been canceled due to the new seaman's law set to take effect November 4. The company operates with Chinese crews in its trans Pacific service.
George Hunter J A McBride and Mr Jacobs appointed by the court to appraise the estate of the late George Elmer Ouderkirk who died without a will. They are today engaged in performing that duty.
United States Marshal and Mrs. Gray returned from Santa Fe New Mexico after visiting the young Indian girl sent to the Institution. They traveled via the southern route and stopped in San Francisco to view the exposition. They found the Nevada building and exhibit favorable compared with other states.
Berlin April 17. General Slevens shoots Grand Duke Nicholas after a rebuke and then dies by suicide. The shooting leaves the Grand Duke dead and Slevens dead at the scene.
Five cars of four year old steers averaging over 1500 pounds were sold by Hunter & Banks of Elko to Humphrey & Moffat of Reno. The steers brought 7.35 per hundred pounds fob Seattle, after grain feeding through winter. John Thompson accompanied the shipment.
J. M. Murray has leased the Western Pacific dining room at the depot and will run a first class lunch counter. He comes from Salt Lake City and formerly managed the Sparks eating house and other Sante Fe locations. Special rates will be offered to employees and local residents. Murray is joined by his wife who is experienced in the restaurant business.
News from New York reports orders for war munitions have created instant fortunes led by Samuel Untermyer. Russia ordered one hundred million dollars worth of shrapnel and other deadly devices, forcing manufacturers to operate day and night for months.
Samuel McIntyre appeared before Justice Castle at two o clock yesterday. His case was continued for sixty days. He is under arrest for fencing the public highway near Halleck. He claimed ignorance of any violation and cited Utah attorney advice. He agreed to build a new road and grade it to flat-class condition.
Constable McMurtrey seized two cows found running at large and placed them in the pound. Owners paid $5 each to recover their animals this morning. The official warns that livestock roving the streets will be strictly confiscated and taken up to avoid trouble and expense.
