Lawton Oklahoma April 10 Carl Dudley a negro who murdered Policeman Mayes was seized from the county jail by about two hundred men and killed. His body dragged through the streets as word spread of the mob action. No arrests reported.
London April 10 British steamers Zafra 4578 tons Yonne 2562 tons Silkworth Hall 4777 tons and Glen Almond 2585 tons were torpedoed and sunk by German submarines. It is claimed all four were unarmed and sunk without warning. The crews mostly escaped though four sailors from the Silkworth Hall are missing.
Saturday evening between seven and nine o'clock burglars entered the Cantwell residence while Deputy District Attorney C A Cantwell and family were away. They took jewelry and items including a watch and chain a Colt revolver pins water fobs a gold ring and a purse with cash. They escaped via a basement window and departed before the Cantwells returned at 8 30. Officers were alerted but no suspects found. The article notes Cantwell will prosecute.
In district court Judge Taber presides as Sam Bachman, via Van Fleet and McNamare, pleads not guilty. One indictment charges stealing a horse from IL A Agee. A separate case over driving horses from the county without inspection has a demurrer set for Wednesday at ten.
