Levi S Huff a Home Telephone lineman died Saturday afternoon after falling 26 feet from a pole west of Main street. He apparently touched an uninsulated electric wire carrying 2000 2200 volts. Huff resided at 303 North Second with wife and two daughters Enid and Aletha and had worked for Home Telephone and previously Lake Shore and Elkhart Electric. Funeral at 10 tomorrow morning with Rev Frazer.

Waterloo Tl Sept 10 William Hoffman, a young farmer, fatally shot William Brandt his father in law Tuesday night. He told his wife of the deed claiming he planned to kill two more and fled to the woods with fifty rounds saying he would not be captured alive.
Rome dispatch reports strong support for appointing Auxiliary Bishop Muldoon of Chicago as Archbishop of Milwaukee to succeed the late Archbishop Katzer. The recommendation comes amid church leadership transitions in the Midwest.

Francis H. Shafer aged 34 years 5 months 15 days died at 7 30 this morning after a lingering illness in Elkhart Indiana He was born in Snyder County Pennsylvania March 28 1869 and came to Elkhart in August 82 He married Myra Wear January 2 1895 and left a wife and two daughters Dorothy and Carolyn The funeral will be held at his house Monday at 2 30 pm with viewing Monday morning from 9 to 11. He was a member of the Elks. A post mortem examination is planned this afternoon.
George C. Fetzer eleven months old, son of Mr and Mrs Charles B Fetzer, died at 603 Vistulz street at 11 15 last night after eczema worsened to heart. He was nephew of the late Francis Shafer. sisters Mrs Shafer and Mrs Fetzer. Funeral at 4 tomorrow at the house with Rev Light officiating.
The Maccabees planned a Saturday picnic in Osceola Grove but rain moved the event indoors. Long tables overflowed with chicken cake pies buns and butter followed by more chicken and desserts. Mr Replogle spoke after the meal and the crowd enjoyed ice cream despite the weather and carnival.
Mrs. W. H. Crull, who has been ill, is much worse and will be taken to a South Bend hospital Thursday for an operation.
