The Standard Oil reply to a government petition for rehearing in the case that wiped out a 29 240 000 fine was filed at 10 this morning. Judges Grosscup Seman and Baker will hear arguments later with a decision expected in October. If denied the government may seek Supreme Court review to bring the entire case before the high court.
Will Schulz and Edward Listenberger were injured when a freight elevator shaft broke at the Ekhart automobile garage just after 6 pm. Schulz suffered severe head and left heel injuries with nervous shock. Listenberger escaped with minor bruises. Schulz’s Mitchell car fell to the basement. wind shield broken and damage extensive.
Chicago on September 10 reports William J. Bryan and William H. Taft are likely to speak at a dinner in Chicago on October 7, for delegates to the deep waterway convention. Bryan has accepted, with an invitation sent. a Republican campaign voyage aboard the steamer Theodore Roosevelt will visit four states with speakers including Congressman Watson and ex-Attorney General Taylor of Indiana.
