A mine near West Philadelphia exploded in fire damp last evening trapping 322 men. Fire blocks escapes and only 38 survivors, badly injured, are known to have escaped. Reports estimate deaths from 150 to 300.
Ludlow of the Indianapolis Star reports Chas W. Miller addressed Elkhart County voters on November 3 explaining the so called tail end of the shamp in the Thirteenth district. Miller notes no complaint with the election and says he is busy with his law practice while Br Miller also represented defense in the Goshen circuit court in the case Valentine Berkey guardian v Jonas Rensberger et al injunctive action.
Six Chinese men drowned while attempting to cross the Niagara River in Buffalo. Four others were rescued and later arrested as authorities investigate the smuggling ring.
James Utley of two miles east of Goshen left with the forefinger of his right hand torn off yesterday afternoon while shredding corn on Adam Yoder’s farm in Clinton Township. A spinning gear pulled him toward the mechanism but Freud Yoder grasped him and saved his hand.

LaPorte Indiana November 12 a sensational trial update shows Mrs Gun ness named as a witness for the defense in the Lamphere murder case. Prosecutor Ralph N Smith prepared to open in a new venue. Ten jurors were seated with more expected as allegations about a grave on the Gunness farm surface amid reports of a possible alive Gunness unseen since the fire.
