Minney Convicted in Mutilation Case at St Joseph
In St Joseph Michigan on March 16 Max Minney was found guilty in the circuit court of maiming and mutilating dumb brutes. The verdict surprised many as evidence was circumstantial and jurors had split on the first ballot five for conviction five for acquittal. Prosecutor White criticized defense attorney Gore for attacking the sheriff’s force and the prosecution. Gore accused witnesses of perjury and ridiculed the case. Minney did not testify, which may have influenced jurors. A motion for a new trial will assert lack of sufficient evidence and improper admissibility of some evidence.
