Beam Collapse at Elk’s Building Under Construction

A four ton iron cross-beam fell from the Elk’s building during erection when the lifting rope broke. The beam struck the ground, an edge of sandstone above the entrance was knocked off and the beam bent. No injuries reported. Estimated damage over $100.

Court rules against Elkhart attorney in injunction case

In Goshen circuit court Judge Dodge denied the motion to dismiss the action as to Sheriff Riesel. Indianapolis Star reports Governor Hanly leans toward appointing Elkhart County native Van Fleet to the newly created St Joseph and Elkhart Superior Court seat.
