Judge Wallace dismisses the writ of habeas corpus in Kemmler case and remands him to Auburn prison custody for execution of the judgment.
Charles R. Dennett 66 former managing editor of the Globe died at his Hinsdale home after a brief illness. A Massachusetts native, he served on the New York Herald Cincinnati Commercial and St Paul Pioneer Press. He led the Chicago Times before joining the Globe in 1868 and was a Democratic National Convention delegate in 1860. He leaves a wife two sons and a married daughter.

The twenty-fifth anniversary of Archbishop Riordan receiving holy orders was celebrated with special masses across the archdiocese. At the cathedral a 10 o’clock pontifical high mass marked the day, followed by the archbishop receiving congratulations in the afternoon.

Edward F. Costello a New London Northern brakeman killed his 19 month old son in Palmer on Wednesday by shooting while the child slept. He then shot at his wife three times. a corset steel saved her life. Domestic trouble was the motive.
Missouri Democrats met in St Joseph on June 12 to nominate a Supreme Judge, a State Superintendent of Public Schools, members of the State Railway Commission, and to elect a new State Central Committee.
