Edward Everett Hale, renowned writer and Unitarian minister, died at his Roxbury home in Boston after two to three weeks of illness. A friend of Longfellow, he was born April 4, 1822, and served at Worcester and Boston congregations before gaining fame for The Man Without a Country and My Double and How He Undid Me among over 400 works. His sister was at his bedside.
