Tragic Farm Accident Leaves Teen Fatally Shot
Willie Roland sixteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Benjamin Roland of 1412 South Main Street was mortally wounded when Albert Beck discharged a double barreled gun while peering under a log pile on David Punches farm four miles north of the city. The shot pierced his back and left lung as he stood about 15 feet away. Roland died later that evening as doctors battled to remove shot fragments and repair injuries. Beck, distraught, returned to town for physicians. the affair stunned the local community and family.
