A gang robbed the State Bank of Coal City early this morning in Verona. Three bandits were wounded and captured after a pitched battle with officers and a dentist aiding in the pursuit. Two assailants escaped with about 200 in stamps while a widespread manhunt continued.

Riverside Youth Tries Suicide After Quarrel
Gilbert Ousterhout twenty year old despondent following a quarrel with a Beardsley avenue woman. He first attempted suicide by shooting a six caliber pistol, then drank carbolic acid and wood alcohol at his Prospect street home. He collapsed at home and was taken to a doctor, who says he has only a fighting chance for life with prognosis uncertain for forty eight hours. He had recently joined Indiana National Guard Company H and moved here nine months ago.
