The Elkhart Observer publishes weekly on Wednesdays at 102 Main Street. It lists subscription terms for one, six, and three months in advance and advertising rates based on time and space with special rates for long runs. Proprietors Edward and Emma Molloy.

The Republicans of Florida nominate Judge Ossi B Hart a lifelong native and veteran Union man for governor. In his nomination acceptance he declares the Republican party the country’s most liberal patriotic and progressive and capable of political reform. The party enters the campaign with enthusiasm and determination.
The Indianapolis Journal reports Liberal candidate John R. Cravens supports resuming the canal debt by the State. The Bourbon Mirror says a powerful canal ring aims to foist a $20,000,000 debt through a Democratic Legislature and urges Indiana voters to organize against this alleged scheme.
The State Department awaits the Emperor of Germanys decision on the San Juan boundary under the Washington treaty. The dispute tests whether the boundary runs through Rosario Strait or Canal Delaro, with the 1846 treaty language guiding the line to Vancouver Island and the Pacific. Officials expect a US-favorable award though the ruling is final and nonappealable.
Gen Hodge, Democratic Elector for Kentucky, lauds Greeley in Louisville praising Democratic principles and Southern sacrifice. He warns against Grant and says Greeley will aid allies in Congress while promising remembrance to supporters if success comes.
