Modoc War Tale of Bungletoe and Camp Follies
Major General McCracken Bungletoe recounts a comic and chaotic Modoc campaign with a one eyed mule, a horse doctor, and a furiously improvised command. He details improvised reconnaissance, a mock battle, and a humorous surrender to Captain Jack, ending with a return home and plan for further action.
