Wish Granted for Civil War Veteran's Pension Voucher
Edwin Shelmadine of 114 North Second street died Tuesday after signing a $300 monthly pension voucher secured by Representative Barntfart and signed by President Roosevelt. He fell at Simonton lake after a buggy ride, saying only Let me rest a little. He lived sixteen years in the Elkhart home and was a shoemaker and Civil War veteran with a notable memory of local history. Survived by Augusta E. Shelmadine and two daughters, plus siblings, with funeral at 2 p m Friday conducted by Rev. Buckner and Elmer Post.
