A Tipton County bank swore out a warrant for Manson U. Johnson after reports he forged township warrants totaling up to 100000 dollars. Johnson, tied to Anderson business interests and former Indiana official, was last heard of in Hot Springs Arkansas with agents summoned to meet him at the Grand Hotel. He reportedly used township warrants to pay suppliers and vanished as several warrants turned bad.
An Indianapolis Merchants' Association officer investigated alleged forgery in Frankfort Indiana. A well dressed woman used a forgery book under the name Mrs Anna Johnson of Frankfort to buy goods then forged entries totaling about 300 dollars. She cashed the book at a bank where the crime was detected. A similar book in the name Miss Anna Miller of Frankfort was found at a railroad station.

She notes the husband is much younger than her, a widow with grown daughters at the time of their marriage.
In Lima Ohio on March 29 a man calling himself EH B Smith attempted to hawk two 1804 silver dollars for a small sum. The coins, said to be genuine, were valued at $2,000 each. The bold offer aroused suspicion as authorities noted the dollar replicas as counterfeit.
Chicago March 29 The glucose plant at Waukegan employing over 500 hands will close as soon as supplies of hand are exhausted, expected early next week. The duration of the shutdown is not known.
