In Laguna province insurgents under Caballos surrendered to Lt Col Dougherty, yielding 47 rifles and 18 revolvers, with Caballos ordering remaining insurgents to cease hostilities.
Havana March 25 The audencia court sentences Neely Reeves Rathbone to ten years imprisonment and fines of 56.70, 25516, and 35 respectively for embezzlement of Cuban postal funds. Fire destroys Carlsbad hotel sanatorium in Nashville with value about 15000 and insurance 10000. property leased for Woman's Christian Home.
The convention adjourned sine die at 4:00 pm amid wild delegate cheers. President Mitchell warned a strike seems imminent and urged coal road presidents to conference. Districts may set a date for a work suspension while miners seek shorter hours and wage gains.
Chicago March 25. The Commercial Artists association has declared a general strike in fourteen leading engraving houses to enforce an apprenticeship system. About 250 commercial artists, all journeymen in the affected plants, voted to strike until the firms sign the agreement. The plan allocates one apprentice per first journeyman and one more for every five additional apprentices.
A tumult over a school dispute in Muncie ended with the board securing counsel to pursue damages against the school, while Professor Muncie refuses to resign and resumes duties amid a split public mood. Summitville Indiana residents report a well dressed stranger from the Klondike halted at Henry Cory's store a week ago and spoke of wealth from the bank. He showed a jar of gold nuggets valued around $50,000 and asked Cory to guard it as he went into the country. the man has not returned and the nugget remains in Summitville bank vault.
Three young men Newton Banter Dewis Monroe and Charles Griffith of Dun dee were intoxicated in Montpelier Indiana. They shot at dogs and accidentally wounded a year old boy Abraham Allen with a skull fracture. Griffith faced grand jury. the others were fined for drunkenness. The child survived but doctors fear otherwise.
March 25 Peru Indiana reports a legal feud as the Wabash rails oppose a grade crossing planned by Cincinnati Richmond and Muncie two miles west of the line. A restraining order from Judge Capron in Marshall County halted work as the Wabash derailed two engines in the right of way.
Amsterdam reports in Boer circles that Acting President Schalk Burger visited General Kitchener following a European note exchange. Six emissaries were to be sent to South Africa with dispatches to Steyn and Schalk Burger. peace terms discussed by leaders reportedly demanded by General Botha on February 28 1901, including full amnesty for Cape rebels.

Mont Lambert village in France reports a violent incident where Nelson attempted to strike his maid with a hammer. Believing the victim dead he shot himself. The girl remains in serious condition.
