Shooting in Newman Ends in Death of Detective Sutton
In Newman Illinois a sensational shooting leaves Detective John Sutton dead after a confrontation with Arthur Craig of Indianapolis. Craig, Miss Hattie Sutton's suitor, fired twice after Sutton held him at gunpoint but the revolver misfired first. Craig then shot Sutton fatally. Craig surrendered and was acquitted by a coroner's jury. Craig is nephew of Representative Isaac B. Craig.
