London Dec. 9 Mrs. Taft joined her husband aboard the President Grant at Boulogne. A tender carrying the party sailed into a gale thinking the ship was inside the breakwater. The rudder broke and the craft drifted for eight hours until the vessel arrived to rescue them. Mrs. Taft escaped injury. The President Grant arrived late with the passengers aboard. Bobby Walthour, top cyclist, fell and was sidelined from the race after a shoulder injury from a prior fall. Nine leading teams were tied at 1963 miles at 10 o'clock. Three youths arrested at hump for liquor and junk
