Huntington judge rules no natural right to liquor sale. Bat Masterson tipped for Secret Service. Dewey Parker Chicago banquet noted. Manitowoc case: son kills his mother amid wealth.
A steam plant break closed the Bristol court house area rooms due to cold. Mrs. Madge Messick Weir, 24, died of quick consumption at her aunt’s Go shen home. burial planned Milford next Sunday. Mr and Mrs Frederick Schweigert wed at St John s German Lutheran church South Prairie and plan a six month European honeymoon, mainly near Schweigert s Baden hometown with visits to Switzerland and France. Schweigert a Hebron ND grain dealer and lumberman, wed Lydia Eliza Ewald daughter of Rev and Mrs Frederick Ewald in a multi minister ceremony with large attendance.
Mrs Payson Schwin hosted the Thursday Club with seven vocal numbers themed on Shakespeare. Members and guests heard readings from Romeo and Juliet and The Merchant of Venice while Mrs Wilcox and Mrs Babb presented historical and cultural notes. The group adopted a Y M C A downtown federation proposal and set next meeting dates with Mrs Jessie Leth and Mrs Edward Ziesel in January.
Abraham A. Moyer of Harrison township died at his home eight miles west of Gb shen at 4 25 pm Thursday. He was born in Ohio sixty eight years ago last May and came to this county in 1839. Four daughters and two sons survive along with two brothers and a sister the last being Mrs Peter Nusbaum of Elkhart. Funeral will be held Sunday with friends meeting at the house at 9 am and proceeding to Yellow Creek church. John Graham of South Bend, former Elkhart resident, died this forenoon of apoplexy after about six weeks illness at sixty six. He leaves a wife who is J D Rush of this city’s sister and an adopted son. Graham lived here many years before moving away about thirty five years ago and in South Bend he was part owner of a machine shop.
The Evangelical Bethel Church at Willowdale on Simonton and Michigan streets will dedicate the new red brick structure on Sunday December 10 with three morning, afternoon and evening services led by Rev L H Seager of Cleveland O and Rev S H Baumgartner presiding elder. The building features Gothic windows a 1300 pound bell and a 38 by 38 foot auditorium with an incline floor polished pews and ornate pulpit donated by Rev L Newman of Mishawaka.
