Train Escort to Washington Through Storm and Crowds

President Receives Letters on National Holiday Proposal

Washington reports the president is considering a proposal from various parts of the country to declare a national holiday next Saturday with a suspended public and private business. He cannot unilaterally declare such a holiday as his power does not extend beyond the District of Columbia.
