Haniel Ferris, a single father, narrowly escaped asphyxiation from a coal stove in a cobbler's shop. A boy near 45 Washington Avenue raised the alarm after finding Ferris unconscious on the floor. An ambulance arrived and Ferris regained consciousness at General Hospital, with hopes of returning home soon.
Detectives Brogan and Henry raided a street game near Second Avenue and High Street. Joseph Carey, about 18, was arrested and tried by Judge Mahon, fined 4.85 dollars after officers recovered severed dice as evidence during an excise crusade dawn raid.
