George Howard and Walter Colling piloted the balloon Drifter from Mumillan Ohio, leaving at 7 40 P M and landing 11 miles south of Moth Pleasant, Til at 1 15 A M next day in a wheat field without mishap. The plan was to stay aloft for over forty hours to break the record.

He was born November 17, 145% and practiced in Elizabeth after training in Philadelphia. Survived by widow Mrs Morey E. Straws and three children, services private.
John Burhans, a longtime Westfield jewelry businessman and organizer of the Westfield Fire Department, died at 4 am after an indigestion attack. He moved to Westfield after retiring from New York business, helped organize a volunteer fire department, and was the oldest active member of the fire company, Hook and Ladder No. 1, at the time of his death.
John Fell, 20, drowned at noon while entering rough surf in front of the Hollywood Bathing Beach. He was overheated before entering the water. Joseph Julian, bathing attendant, assisted in the attempted rescue and prayerfully notified authorities. The body was recovered. Also ad for Union Business College at 208-210 Freud Street.
