Runaway Horse Injures Two In Rahway
Special to the Journal Rahway July 16 a spirited horse hitched to a Painter Howard Brant trap on West Milton avenue near Broad street ran away after the city steam roller approached. It dashed east toward Tilton crossing where two gas company workers were injured by the runaway. Tony Piccolone of Elizabeth was severely injured, pierced on the right side by a shaft. Harry Spieler was struck on the head but not seriously injured. Piccolone was taken to Elizabeth, and the train crew assisted. The runaway crossed the railroad measuring and halted near Irving street, leaving both men bruised as the horse toppled and the wagon fell. The victim’s condition not stated.
