Newsboys to be supplied with badges and warnings issued to parents as attendance officers crack down on truancy. The effort targets students skipping classes to attend theatre shows, with officers tracking attendance, contacting guardians, and keeping records.
Willie McCandless, 18, was arrested with Frank, alias HU hed, on March 6, 1902, charged with entering a freight office at the Central railroad. Sentences were suspended. Mey committed to Shue Reformatory, Williamson’s care supervised sentence. McCandless turned over to his brother for work and supervision.

A small black dog wandered near Chestnut Street by Veinitys Episcopal Church when it was struck by a wagon and later shot by Policeman E Smith at close range. The bullet ricocheted, hitting Robert Calbeck in the groin and wounding him as he stood about ten feet away.
