William H Hicks Dead Prominent Union County Banker and Sheriff
William H Hicks longtime downtown businessman and former Union County Sheriff died at his Elizabeth avenue home after a nine week illness from pneumonia. Born in Asbury Warren he built the leading clothing and shoe business at 150 First Street and later resided at 214 Elizabeth avenue. A lifelong Democrat he served as sheriff and was a longtime director of the Elizabethport Mutual Loan Association Union Savings Bank and Elizabethport Banking Company. He is survived by a wife a son Harry O Hicks two daughters and one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at his late home Monday evening with interment at Asbury on Tuesday.
