Minutes of the Freeholders Session in Union County

Union County freeholders discuss improvement of the Springfield to Milltown Road corridor through Westfield Mountainside and Springfield. A macadamized road plan spanning about three and three quarter miles is proposed, with surveys and state approvals to follow. The board also approves routine bill payments and adjourns to December 17.

Road improvement orders from 1908 county board meeting
The Union County board of chosen freeholders discussed and adopted ordinances for road improvements. A proposed macadam road from Terrell road to Westfield avenue through Fanwood Westfield and Clark would be surveyed and submitted for state approval. Jefferson avenue improvements between Plainfield and Dunellen were authorized, with plans for a 33 foot width and 3.75 mile length. Committees reported and several motions passed unanimously. A payment for a sheriff's bill was approved and adjournment set for December 1, 1908.
