Despondent mother ends attempt by leaping on railroad tracks

Mrs Winnie Pendleton, living at 1177 Mary Street, attempted suicide and murder by throwing herself and her baby onto Pennsylvania Railroad tracks. Police found her just before an express train to New York passed. She had recently lost work in Roselle and relied on others for care of her child.

John Forman Killed in Streetcar Collision

John Forman of Forman & Sons grocers, 708 Third Avenue, was struck by a First Streetcar at Jersey and Spring streets near Newark market. He fell, sustaining a skull injury but was not in danger. his father Harry Forman witnessed the incident. Dr Korngitt reported the injury serious but not life threatening. accident occurred shortly after 2 o’clock, with the wagon damaged and horses thrown.

Woman Dies After Rat Poison Accident at Home

Mrs. Walush 25, wife of Paul Walush of 108 Port Avenue, Newark, died at St Michael's Hospital after mistaking rat poison for medicine. She had been in poor health, and while reaching for a vial in a closet she seized poison instead of medicine, lost consciousness, and could not be revived. Survived by husband and three children.
