Washington April 18 The House Banking and Currency Committee reports two favorable measures on the Fowler bill for current deposits of public money. It permits receipts from cantons to be deposited with national banking associations designated by the secretary of the treasury. When in excess of 860 million dollars, excess funds may be deposited with designated banks to prevent money absorption, with equitable distribution of interest and notes. Deposits with any national banking association cannot exceed 25 percent of the bank’s paid-in capital and remain subject to treasury demands.
