Legion and Auxiliary supper and party drew a well attended crowd. After the meal a program featured songs by Kathryn Crowe and Lolita Steele, a piano duet by Barbara Appelman and Elsie Jerdee, tap dancing, and a musical reading. Cards and bridge were played with honors to J Halverson and Max Reed.
The American Legion hall in Clermont hosts a meeting for World War I veterans invited by the Amvets Auxiliary. The event aims to explain Amvet goals and to establish a local post, with doughnuts and coffee served after.
The West Clermont Mission Society met on Wednesday September 18 with hostesses listed. The group sang hymns devotions from Esther were read, and reports on the WMF convention sessions were given. Birthday offerings were collected for several members, and members shared notes of anniversaries and visits.
In a nine inning opener the Clermont Commanders beat Luana 7 to 6 after a late rally. Shipton delivered the decisive single with bases loaded in the ninth. Starting lineup included Lofts gard Westpfahl and Meyer. Upcoming sectional at Volga City features Clermont-Edgewood at 1 30 p m on September 21. The Women's Catholic Order of Foresters met at Mae Carlin's home on Wednesday evening for a social with Mrs. Dana Burke assisting. Four card tables awarded prizes to George Larson, Mrs. Howard Boyle, and Mrs. Catherine Horan. A hostess lunch followed.
The report covers a Wednesday city park hike for multiple grades, with third and fourth graders visiting the park last week and decorating bulletin boards with colored leaves. Fifth and sixth graders work on science booklets about honey bees, heat changes of solids and liquids.

St Peters Church holds Masses at 6 and 10 on Sundays and at 7 on weekdays with Saturday 6 o clock service. Visitors from Postville, Marquette, Spencer, Lewiston Idaho and Elgin joined dinners and anniversaries across homes in the area. Mrs Flack in Delhi recently suffered two mild strokes and is staying with Marvin Flack in Clermont. Local guests included the Bear and Schweinerus families plus Vernon Brandt and Gilbert Hanson during the weekend fishing trip on the Mississippi.
Corffi in Reunion marks a Sunday event at East Clermont Lutheran on Oct 13 with Rev. Hiram Jacobson delivering a 10:30 am sermon and Holy Communion. A noon dinner follows in the church parlors, with Dr. Jacob Tanner addressing the gathering. Confirmands to be seated by classes and special music planned.
East Clermont societies include meetings and visits with many local residents. George Malven of Maynard visited grandparents Mr and Mrs George Belschner while Gladys Anderson of St Luke hospital Cedar Rapids hosted weekend guests. Mrs Adolph Normark of Minneapolis spent the past week with Herbert Dummermuth family and Verne Brack and Jackie joined her for a Friday visit. A Sunday picnic honored guests with Lorenz Schatz family and Harald Schneider present. Noelle McGreevy has been ill at home. George Washburns and Paul Wells joined relatives for birthday celebrations and weekend dinners. Earl Monroe travelled from Albert Lea to visit relatives through Thursday, and many others spent time with local families.
