Report on Salage Drive at Commercial Club Meeting
Fifteen members attended the Commercial Club meeting starting with dinner at the Corner Cupboard. The road committee reported no results yet on resurfacing the Clermont Gander road, with another attempt planned when the Fayette county end is resurfaced. The main focus was the junk problem as time tightens before winter. the salvage group agreed to continue for another month. Clermont has shipped about 120 tons of junk, including 65 tons sold by Brick & Sand Co, around 5 tons each by Fred Cline and Richard Olson, and nearly 25 tons from drivers. Civil War cannon, mortar, and balls were added to the collection, weighing over 20 tons, with sale proceeds supporting Clermont’s USO Army Relief funds.
