Public Health Warning Endorses Daily Exercise And Outdoors
The United States Public Health Service warns longevity declines after forty due to degenerative diseases from sedentary living. It urges two hours daily outdoor activity, walking, hobbies, gardening, and avoiding heavy athletics while favoring moderate, persistent exercise. The notice contrasts English clergy poverty with Chaplin’s wealth and notes broad social observations. The piece also reports local events: Clermont’s big day sponsored by the American Legion raised 2039.08 dollars, Standard Oil profits after dissolution, looming cotton price concerns, a rain delay in a ball game, and a post office name change to Marqueta, North McGregor, effective August 26.
