Hughes outlines tax relief plan and renter credits

Gov. Hughes spoke at Waterloo before the Iowa Federation of Labor outlining two tax relief proposals. He urged repealing the personal property tax on household goods and proposed a Home Exemption tax credit for low and middle income residents with a sliding scale as income rises. He suggested extending the credit to renters and property owners. Iowa Farm Bureau President J Merrill Anderson condemned federal economic theory and said Farm Bureau aims to produce for consumers, not the government.
