Burn Church Mortgage Ceremony In Wadena Sunday
The Wadena Presbyterian church held a mortgage burning service during Sunday worship with Rev. Gersia Wilson officiating. James H. Wilson, the sole surviving heir, expressed joy at the moment, declaring he had waited long for this. A pulpit Bible, donated by Stuart Curnock in memory of his mother, was presented to the church, accepted by Rev. Wilson. Mrs. Arthur Herrling presented the Bible, and Rev. Curnock, formerly pastor of the Bingham, New York church, had his first pastorate in Wadena.

Question of Special Session Raised Again
The Iowa legislature faces renewed talk of a special session to consider housing legislation after federal authorities advised Beardsley that Iowa could gain housing aid for up to 10 000 units if it qualifies for federal funds. A Democratic enabling act died in committee, with lawmakers and labor groups urging action. The governor has not received recent requests from legislators for a session. The tax commission reported Iowa utilities value rising about nine percent in 1950, totaling 33,896,142, driven by electric gas pipe line heat and water plant expansions, with rural electrification valuation contributing to the boost. A rural electrification method question delayed some valuations. Railroads and interurban valuations rose six million to 121,707,223.

Keep Spring Hog Crop About the Same
Economists say efficient hog raisers should keep production near this year’s level for 1950 spring farrow. A hog to corn ratio of 11 or 12 to 1 is profitable with price supports likely to guarantee such a ratio. The spread between cash corn and loan price may allow feeders with storage to profit by choosing old or new corn.
