George W Howard son of Frank and Dollie Howard was born August 19 1917 and died September 13 1961 at age 44 after a fatal car accident in Nampa Idaho He married Io wa Beatrice Barth February 1 1937 and they had seven children Six survived with one deceased He lived in Waukon Elgin Perry and Des Moines with relations including wife Io wa and children Wayne Larry Frank Alan Dennis Georgia and five grandchildren Pallbearers named Kenneth Dale John Jr Howard Samuel Howard Geo T Howard and Wm Boyle were listed.

The Elgin Iowa Town Council met in special session at the town hall with all members present. Abgent served as mayor and Councilman Muehlethaler was appointed mayor pro tem.
The town council met with Center Street property owners in the business district to explain benefits of installing copper tubing water lines in their buildings during the street upgrade. All property owners agreed to replace lines with the street works. Motion to adjourn carried. Attest: Lorence Muehlethaler Mayor Pro-tem Leo E. Friederich Town Clerk.
The Official Board of St Pauls Methodist Church expresses sincere thanks to Hermen and Bartunek and staff for publicity given to church organizations over the past year. Mrs C B Schori Recording Secretary signs the cordial appreciation to the staff and congregation.
The Pleasant Point Study Club met with Mrs. Allen Habeger on Tuesday afternoon September 12. Roll call noted. The program theme focused on a trip of my dreams as the group discussed plans and reflections.

Funeral services for E. A. Schlup aged 64 were held Tuesday September 28 at the First Congregational Church in Hudson South Dakota. Rev. David Graham officiated and Jeptha Lodge No 121 A F and A M conducted graveside rites.
Mr and Mrs Barney Larson Mr and Mrs Robert Barker and Mrs Florence Blockhus with Ronald hosted a casual supper after Confirmation at Elgin Lutheran Church. Attendees included Shirley Kay Larson Diana Barker and Sendra Blockhus.
