New Head At i Training hall Eldora capture
A new head at the Iowa Training School Eldora, Charles W Reed, takes over from the late Fred N Cooper. Reed aims to make the institution one of a kind in the United States, emphasize rehabilitation over punishment, and run with no political influence within its operation. He previously led St Charles institution and will hire and fire staff under board approval as he plans to reform living arrangements and work programs for wayward youths. The article also touches on Iowa politics and a debated pheasant season amid conservation concerns and revenue implications.

Iowa Safety Responsibility Law discussed in Fayette meeting
Edna Woodward led a West Union program explaining the Safety Responsibility Law as part of a statewide drive by the Department of Public Safety. About ninety people from civic and farm groups attended while Sheriff Fred A. House chaired. The rule allows three proof paths including insurance coverage of $5,000 for one death, $10,000 for multiple deaths, and $1,000 for injuries.
