Ballot battle in Iowa dominates politics and law
The Iowa ballot fight over Sen. Humphrey and Johnson names drew national attention as legal challenges were filed in Polk County by Gordon Risher and his mother to remove top Democrats from the ballot. Republican figures including Evan Hultman Baleed and others prepared responses as campaign planning began with Goldwater Miller and Nixon expected to visit Iowa in coming months. The report also covers cabin land removals, water pollution law reviews, and a broad political scene shaping the 1966 cycle.
