Obituary for Adella Chapman in West Union, 1865

Adella Chapman died at the Good Samaritan Home West Union on Thursday morning September 1865 at age 89. She was the last survivor of Curtis L and Louisa Shaver Chapman, with two brothers Charles and Adelbert deceased. She spent most of her life in the Elgin area, attended Upper Iowa University, moved to Elgin in 1905, and later lived at the Good Samaritan Home after a hip fracture in 1959. She was active in church and W S C S, survived by nieces and nephews, and services were held at Muehlethaler Chapel and St. Paul's Methodist Church with interment in Holyria Cemetery. The card of thanks followed.

Mrs Stoltenberg Rites Held in Bettendorf Iowa

Services were held in Bettendorf Iowa for Mrs John Stoltenberg a former Elgin resident. She died August 26 1865 after surgery in a Bettendorf hospital. Survived by husband three children Conner Stoltenberg and others. Interment at Bettendorf.
