Weeks ago Jimmy Maraden and Nelly Wanken reported a strange animal they found while groundhogs were set out. The family kept the nondescript creature alive and observed it gradually tame from shy to approachable. Neighbors were astonished and uncertain how to name it, believing it may be a badgey once common in pioneer days.
The Burlington and Northern Railway extends 140 miles into southwestern Minnesota, promoting six new towns Reading Wilmont Lismoor Kenseth Walters Conger as commercial centers. Auctions of lots attract buyers to boom these stations, with town ownership sales and private purchases urged via town lot agents. A teachers excursion to the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo is planned, with a special train and group rates. New lines from Ellendale to Owatonna promise growth, inviting pioneers to settle in Ellendale. Laundry notices encourage patronage to local providers amid a push for home-based service.

Ordinance No 64 prohibits sale of non intoxicating temperance liquors except via license. Applicants pay twenty five dollars monthly in advance. Violations incur fines up to five dollars per day and possible imprisonment. Ordinance applies to restaurants and barber shops with liquor sales, effective after publication. Passed September 1901 in Elgin Iowa.
A damaged legal notice cites Daniel A. Miller Martha Miller and Albert with proceedings in Fayette County West Union on October 7. It warns that default will be entered and a judgment rendered per the petition, with Answorth Dyners representing the plaintiffs.
The petition by Frank W. Drilling seeks a quiet title in the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter of section three, township ninety five, range nine, west of the Fifth Principal Meridian, against Richard M. Carson and others. It alleges mortgages dated 1842 and 1856, ownership disputes, alleged identical defendants, and that several mortgages have been paid. The suit requires appearance by October term or default will be entered.
Notice in Pavlrre County Iowa warns all persons about the will of John Peter Lucialiger state and Septennial hearing for proof and admission to probate. Dated West Union Iowa August 1001.
