Tuition Hikes Foresee Higher College Costs This Fall
Iowa State and University of Iowa tuition will rise this fall as the state board of education approved increases last May. Iowa State adds 8 to 36 dollars and the university about 120 dollars over four years after excluding certain fees. The report also notes rising charges for activity books and publications, with net four year increases ranging from modest to substantial for students. A separate study projects hotter Iowa summers in 1953 and 1954, with a long term trend toward warmer midsummers and shifting climate influences across the corn belt.
