Flour Mill at Clermont 1854 Start and Dams History
The Clermont area on the Turkey River saw the 1854 start of a brick flour mill by Ezra Dibble after a line of dam and mill construction initiated by Carl ton Sawyer of Elkader and William Larrabee. The dam, 150 feet long and 16 feet high, and later electric power generation by Christian Miller and Sons powered Clermont and nearby towns before closure in 1956.

Playground Equipment Fund Promotes Park Upgrades
Playground equipment has been erected at the town and river parks funded by donations to the Business and Professional Women's Club. Purchases totaled 693.70 including a swing set 178.85 a 10 ft merry go round 298.00 and a fiberglass fish roaster 44.50. The remaining donations will fund more equipment as clubs are invited to raise money for the fund.
Library closed Monday for school election day
