Canning plants packed 100000 cans daily while Huskers averaged a dollar a day. Elgin defeated Postville 3 0 at the Elkader fair. C Miller Jr of Clermont sold lime and cement. Local lumber yards ran two firms, Benson Bros and Jayne and Keve Bros Co. Weibel Gehring sold 25c per rod woven wire near the depot where seven west end firms advertised. Wine of Cardus touted by attractive women, patent medicines funded many publishers. J C Miller and sons shipped two carloads of rock daily from a quarry west of Elgin. Hadsel moved family to Sova building on Center. Gus Boyer injured between a separator and engine. Thoma Bros painted interiors and added a gas lighting lamp. Joe Feeney, Elgin pitcher, moved to Chicago. Little Want Ads do big jobs at small cost.
