Clermont residents report a weekend of visiting relatives in Lawler and Decorah, with produce moves, housework help, and a remodled building. Attendees include the Svendsens, Bakewells, Engle, Manning, Wander, Reiersons, and Hjem. Nearby activities feature a corn husking contest, a funeral in Postville, and multiple gatherings at local homes and churches.
Mr and Mrs Nels Gilbert of Cedar Rapids spent the weekend at their home here. Sunday dinner guests in the Hans Sandvold home included Mrs Gena Anderson and Merle. Len Simek hosted guests from St Ansgar and Elgin, with multiple families noted.
Mr and Mrs Millard Nelson Jr left Monday for Wauseca Minnesota where on Tuesday morning Mrs Nelson will have major surgery performed by Dr Orvie Swenson. Grandparents Mr and Mrs Mlllen Loftsgard were told their grandson Skipper Loftsgard son of M Set and Mrs S L Loftsgard of Del Rio Texas was hospitalized last week with swelling of the lymph glands thought to be spinal meningitis. Mrs Gerald Gutcher and Duane returned from Rochester last Tuesday Duane is recovering but will return Wednesday for a check up. In Hospital Millard Sampson is a patient in Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union after major surgery and is recovering.
Wayne was discharged Friday and returned to her home here after several weeks as a patient at Town City Hospital.
The regular meeting of the town council led by Mayor Will J. Nelson included councilors Riegel Hoopman Griebenow Gunderson. Appelman absent. Minutes approved. Bills presented include Interstate Power Co for park street and hall lights. Henry Schweineraus labor on streets. state and federal taxes. Taylor Sinclair gas. water testing. telephone rent. lumber and cement. dump option payment. salaries. fire dept truck care. street labor. and fuel. A public meeting on sewage disposal was proposed. A motion granted Gerner's beer, adjournment followed.
