Plans for New Public Buildings Deferred
Washington plans for new public buildings for the state justice and commerce departments south of Pennsylvania Avenue between Fourteenth and Fifteenth Streets NW will be delayed at least two more years. Congress will not appropriate funds before 1917, due to economy and defense priorities. The departments now occupy leased quarters and the commerce department rents its current home at 65 000 dollars annually on a five-year lease. The tract was purchased with intent to erect three department buildings, but no appropriation followed and portions have since been leased by the government.

Storing Cabbage In Field Storage Tips
In choosing a site for a storage pit select a ridge with good drainage and gravelly soil. Pit depth six to ten inches, size based on amount stored, wide enough for three to four heads on the bottom row. Harvest by pulling roots, remove damaged leaves, fold remaining leaves over the head. Do not store overripe or cracked heads. Arrange heads heads down with roots up, two layers max to avoid crushing, cover with earth, add straw or manure in cold weather.
